Turkish Roman Catholic Bishops' Conference

The Turkish Catholic Bishops' Conference ( French : Conférence Episcopale de Turquie ) is the assembly body of Catholic and United Bishops in Turkey . She is a member of the Council of European Bishops 'Conferences (CCEE) and a guest member of the Southeast European Bishops' Conferences . The Turkish Catholic Bishops' Conference “ de jure ” does not exist for the Turkish state , so there are no mutual representatives.

Catholics in Turkey

The congregation of the United Syrian Catholic Church has around 1,200 members, who are led by a choir bishop . Although he is not a bishop himself, he is also a member of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Turkey as the representative of the Patriarch .

The Chaldean Catholic Church , which is the branch of the Syrian Orthodox Church of the East united with Rome , currently has around 1,000 members. After the archbishop's death, the community is led by the only Chaldean priest in Turkey who has the title of patriarchal vicar.

The Roman Catholic Church has around 15,000 members, and its bishop is the Apostolic Vicar of Istanbul , whose vicariate includes northern Turkey with Istanbul and Ankara .

Commissioner for Human Rights

At the request of the Turkish Bishops' Conference, Dr. Otmar Oehring ( Missionswerk "missio" in Aachen ) appointed as lawyer for the Catholic Churches in Turkey. In this function, he advocates the interests and rights of the European Bishops' Conferences (CCEE) and the European institutions.
