Lévon Boghos Zékian

Lévon Boghos Zékian (born October 21, 1943 in Istanbul , Turkey ) is the Armenian Catholic Archbishop of Istanbul .

Life

Lévon Boghos Zekian received on 21 May 1967, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On 21 May 2014 it appointed Pope Francis to Titular Archbishop of Amida degli Armeni and ordered him apostolic administrator sede plena of Istanbul. He received his episcopal ordination from the Patriarch of Cilicia , Nerses Bedros XIX. Tarmouni , September 13th of the same year. Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Aleppo , Boutros Marayati , and the Bishop of Iskanderiya , Krikor-Okosdinos Coussa .

On March 21, 2015, Pope Francis released him from the office of Apostolic Administrator in order to create the canonical prerequisite for his election as Archbishop by the Synod of the Patriarchate of Cilicia on the same date.
