Louis Pelâtre

Louis-Armel Pelâtre AA (* 12. May 1940 in Pancé , France ) is a French religious cleric , Roman Catholic Bishop emeritus Vicar Apostolic of Istanbul and Apostolic Administrator of Istanbul the Greeks and Patriarcal of Istanbul the Melkites .

Life

Born in France Pelâtre kicked his school education in the Congregation of the Assumptionists one, put there the profession from and received on 24 May 1969, the priestly ordination . Working as a missionary in Turkey , Pope John Paul II appointed him Titular Bishop of Sasima on June 9, 1992 and appointed him Vicar Apostolic of Istanbul . The episcopal ordination donated to him on September 13, 1992, the then Apostolic Nuncio in Turkey, Sergio Sebastiani ; Co- consecrators were Hovhannes Tcholakian , Archbishop of Istanbul the Armenians , and Antónios Varthalítis , Archbishop of Corfu, Zakynthos and Kefalonia .

He was president of the Turkish Bishops' Conference .

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on April 16, 2016.
