Antuvan Marovitch

Antuvan Marovitch (born November 19, 1926 in Istanbul , Turkey , † December 15, 1991 ) was Vicar Apostolic of Istanbul .

Life

Antuvan Marovitch was ordained a priest on June 29, 1956 for what was then the Vicariate Apostolic of Constantinople.

Pope John Paul II appointed him titular bishop of Igilgili on October 30, 1986 and appointed him Vicar Apostolic ( Coadjutor ) of Constantinople . The episcopal ordination donated to him on January 18, 1987, the then Apostolic Nuncio of Turkey and later cardinal, Sergio Sebastiani ; Co -consecrators were Bishop Antoine Dubois , Vicar Apostolic of Constantinople, and Giuseppe Germano Bernardini , Archbishop of Izmir.

During his term of office, on November 30, 1990, the Apostolic Vicariate of Constantinople was renamed the Apostolic Vicariate of Istanbul. Antuvan Marovitch died in office at 65.
