Spanish Bishops' Conference

The Spanish Bishops' Conference ( Spanish : Conferencia Episcopal Española ) is the permanent meeting of the Spanish bishops and is in communion with the Roman Pope . The Spanish Bishops' Conference is a member of the Council of European Bishops' Conferences (CCEE) and the Commission of Bishops' Conferences of the European Community (COMECE).

Task

Their task is to exercise pastoral responsibility and to promote cooperation with the dioceses . It works closely with the state institutions, but has full independence and autonomy .

Working basis

The actions of the Spanish bishops are shaped and guided by important ecclesiastical and religious documents, including the conciliar declarations and constitution of the Second Vatican Council . The basics are based on " Lumen Gentium ", " Christ Dominus " and canon law ( Codex Iuris Canonici ). The assembly statute was approved by the Spanish bishops in 1966 and approved by Pope Paul VI. ratified , the last reform took place in May 2004 and was confirmed by the General Assembly. All active Spanish bishops have full voting rights, the emeritus bishops have no right of participation, but an advisory function. The term of office for offices and functions is three years and may only be exercised three times, but the General Secretary of the Spanish Bishops' Conference is elected for a period of five years.
