Martin Finnegan

Martin Finnegan (born October 8, 1979 in Lusk , County Dublin , Ireland , † May 3, 2008 in Tandragee , County Armagh , Northern Ireland ) was an Irish motorcycle racer .
Finnegan began riding motorcycles at a young age, initially on so-called Grastracks , where he soon attracted attention with his first successes. Then, in his late teens, he tried tarmac circuits.
In 2000 he won the Manx Grand Prix on the Isle of Man in the Newcomers Junior category . This success marked the beginning of his career as a road driver. From 1997 he was able to decide a total of 43 Irish road races for themselves. The 2008 season he played for the JMF Millsport Yamaha team .
Martin Finnegan was killed in an accident during the Supersport 600 race at the Tandragee 100 from a failure of his front brake. Shortly before, he had celebrated his 43rd Irish road win in the opening race of the event.
Martin Finnegan left a wife and young daughter. About 10,000 fans attended his funeral on May 7th.
