Views

In an interview with the Catalan television broadcaster TV3 in May 2009, he described the uncovered thousandfold abuse that “may have happened” in Irish Catholic children's homes as absolutely condemnable. The church must apologize for this. But it is not so serious and cannot be compared with the millions of lives that have been destroyed by abortion.

Cañizares accused the Zapatero government in front of 160,000 conservative demonstrators of “jeopardizing democracy” with their radical laicism . Before the parliamentary elections in March 2008, the Spanish Church sympathized with the opposition Partido Popular with hardly any concealment .

Cardinal Cañizares criticized the European refugee policy in October 2015. The cardinal spoke of an "immigrant invasion" which could turn out to be a "Trojan horse". Both the history and the identity of the peoples deserved respect.
