Mario Tagliaferri

Mario Tagliaferri (born June 1, 1927 in Alatri , Province of Frosinone , Italy ; † May 21, 1999 ) was Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Church and Apostolic Nuncio .

Life

Mario Tagliaferri was ordained a priest on August 5, 1950 . Pope Paul VI appointed him on March 5, 1970 titular Archbishop of Formiae and appointed him Apostolic Pro-Nuncio in the Central African Republic and Apostolic Delegate in the Republic of the Congo and Chad . He received his episcopal ordination on May 7, 1970, Cardinal Secretary of State Jean-Marie Cardinal Villot ; Co -consecrators were Archbishop Sergio Pignedoli , Secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples , and the Bishop of Marsi, Vittorio Ottaviani .

1975 he was by Paul VI. appointed Apostolic Pro-Nuncio in Cuba . Pope John Paul II appointed him nuncio in Peru (1978), Spain (1985) and France (1995). In 1999 he died in office.
