Veľký Šariš (German Groß-Scharosch , Hungarian Nagysáros ) is a city in eastern Slovakia with 6426 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).
It was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1217 as Sarus and is divided into the places Kanaš and Veľký Šariš. The ruins of the Sharosh Castle ( Šarišský hrad ) rise above the village .

The best-known company in the city is the brewery Pivovar Šariš in Pivovarská ( brewery road ) where u. a. Smädný Mních ( thirsty monk ), which is also known in Germany , is a 12% export beer .
