Fintice (until 1927 Slovak "Finčice"; German Finzitze , Hungarian Finta ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with a population of 2,115 (December 31, 2019) that the Prešov District , a circle of kraj Prešovský belongs.

Buildings in place

The village is located at the northeastern end of the Šarišská vrchovina mountain range on the right bank of the Sekčov river . The Košická kotlina basin stretches to the south , while the Fintické sedlo pass and the "local mountain" Veľká Stráž ( 740  m nm ) lie to the north . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 280  m nm and is eight kilometers north of Prešov .

history

Fintice Church

Fintice was first mentioned in writing in 1272 and at the beginning belonged to a nobleman of Slavonia. In the 16th century the place came under the ownership of the Darholc family . In the 18th century there was a distillery and a lime kiln, in the 19th century there was a leather factory and quarry instead. In 1828 there are 112 houses and 833 inhabitants.
