The place was first mentioned in writing in 1272 as Delnafeu , when various members of the landed gentry from the Sharosh County received parts of what had been royal property up to that point. The current form of the name only appeared in 1422 in the form of Kakasfalua and is derived from the surname Kakasch , which was used by former landowners. In 1427 no taxes were due. The inhabitants were employed as lumberjacks and farmers, but also as miners in the nearby Solivar salt mines and as salt carters. In 1787 the village had 41 houses and 289 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 74 houses and 539 inhabitants.
