Kendice (until 1927 Slovak and "Kendzice"; Hungarian Kende ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with a population of 2,025 (December 31, 2019) that the Prešov District , a circle of kraj Prešovský belongs.

The municipality is located in the Košická kotlina valley on a meander of the Torysa , between the towns of Prešov (8 km north) and Košice (28 km south). The center of the village is at an altitude of 236  m nm

history

A permanent settlement of today's municipal area goes back to the Neolithic. The place itself was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1249 as Kendy and in the Middle Ages it was a simple village, which was subordinate to different sexes as well as the castle Scharosch . From the 15th to the 17th century the village was split into a large and a small part. In 1828 there are 98 houses and 704 inhabitants, the majority of whom were farmers and grain and cattle traders.
