Neumurnthal is a district of the town of Neunburg vorm Wald in the Schwandorf district in Bavaria .
geography
Neumurnthal is located about four kilometers northeast of Neunburg vorm Wald in Murntal, a breakthrough valley of the Schwarzach that connects to the Eixendorftalsperre . Here the Schwarzach breaks through the granite bar that separates the Tertiary basin around Rötz from the Neunburg valley basin .
history
The name Moornthal, later Murnthal, comes from the swampy, boggy valley floor in which the settlement is located.
On December 31, 1990 Neumurnthal had nine inhabitants and belonged to the parish of Neunburg vorm Wald.
tourism
The Schwarzachtal cycle path (Sz) leads past Neumurnthal on the route of the former Bodenwöhr – Rötz railway line . This important main route in the Bavarian network for cyclists connects the Czech Republic with Schwarzenfeld and the Naabtalradweg (Na).
