Krandorf is a district of the town of Neunburg vorm Wald in the Schwandorf district in Bavaria .

Krandorf is about 14 kilometers northwest of Neunburg vorm Wald between the 500 meter high Raubersberg and the 522 meter high Ostler.

history

The name Krandorf (also: Grandorf, Grondorf, Chramdorf, Crandorf, Kraindorf) can be derived from kron = juniper or from a settlement with many crows. Krandorf was first mentioned in a document in 1230. It belonged to the fief of a Hermann von Chramdorf who was married to a born Zenger. In the past, lead was mined in this area. The miners lived in a tower-like building.

From 1946 to 1948 Krandorf was incorporated into Unterauerbach . After that it belonged to Kemnath bei Fuhrn . Today Krandorf is part of the city of Neunburg vorm Wald.

On March 23, 1913, part of Krandorf, consisting of six houses and 27 residents, belonged to the parish of Kemnath near Fuhrn. The other part of Krandorf with four houses and 30 inhabitants belonged to the parish Unterauerbach. In 1913 Krandorf had a total of 57 inhabitants.

On December 31, 1990, part of Krandorf with 15 inhabitants belonged to the parish of Kemnath bei Fuhrn, the other part of Krandorf with 17 inhabitants belonged to the parish of Unterauerbach. In 1990 Krandorf had a total of 32 inhabitants.
