Gütenland is a district of the city of Neunburg vorm Wald in the Schwandorf district in Bavaria .

Gütenland is about six kilometers east of Neunburg vorm Wald south of the Eixendorfer reservoir .

history

The name Gütenland is derived from the name of the former owner Guotilo. The place was first mentioned on April 28, 1017 as Gǒtilinlant in a deed of donation issued by Emperor Heinrich II to the Archdiocese of Bamberg in Ingelheim . At that time, with Gütenland, a number of other places in the Nordgau came to the diocese created on January 1, 1007 from parts of Würzburg and Bamberg .

On March 23, 1913, Gütenland was part of the Seebarn parish , consisted of 12 houses and had 68 inhabitants.

On December 31, 1990 Gütenland had 82 inhabitants and belonged to the parish of Seebarn.

Culture and sights

There are different stories about the two stone crosses near the road to Neunburg vorm Wald. One reports that a forester and a poacher once shot each other here. Another knows of two farm boys who shot each other at this point while fighting over a girl.
