The Eixendorf dam (also Eixendorfer See ) is located on the Schwarzach, east of Neunburg vorm Wald , in the Schwandorf district , in the Upper Palatinate .

dam

It is used for flood protection , low water increase (water regulation), electricity generation from hydropower and recreation and was put into operation on November 19, 1975 . Normally the dam is only half full; the remaining storage space (13.2 million m³) is intended for flood protection. The storage facility is operated by the Weiden Water Management Authority and the Eixendorf power plant by the Bavarian state power plants.

The dam is a rubble dam with an asphalt concrete inner seal. A road leads over the dam.

Eixendorf, Höllmühle, Obermühle, Seebarnhammer and a section of the former Bodenwöhr – Rötz railway sank into the reservoir .

power plant

The Eixendorf hydropower plant has an expansion capacity of 950 kW; the extended flow rate is 6.8 m³ / s, the maximum head 24.3 m. The electricity is generated using a Kaplan turbine . The standard energy capacity is 3.8 million  kWh per year.
