List of dams in Germany

The list of dams and reservoirs in Germany shows a selection in Germany befindlicher dams and pre-dams and reservoirs , dams and detention basin .

The number of dams in Germany is a matter of definition. The water laws of the federal states regulate what a dam is. The Eder and Diemel dams are in a special position. They are the only ones of the German dams that are operated by the Federal Waterways and Shipping Administration . In the register of the ICOLD (International Commission for Large Dams) there are around 311 German dams that meet the ICOLD criterion for large dams, there are significantly more smaller ones. In the book "Talsperren in Deutschland" from 2013 357 dams are listed. Therefore this is only an incomplete, alphabetical list from which the area and volume of reservoirs can be seen.
