geography
Right upper course Rappenbach
The Rappenbach rises in the Hellers forest island west of the Hellers farm on the Hauerzer district marking of Bad Wurzach in the Ravensburg district at around 713 m above sea level. NN . The stream initially flows northeast, soon leaves the forest and later changes to the municipality of Rot an der Rot in the district of Biberach . In the same direction it flows into the Rappenbach flood retention basin , where the Schmiddisbach / Schmiddis flows from the south-south-west about 5 km below its own origin , which exceeds the Haselbach in terms of length and sub-catchment area. After that, the unified brook nevertheless runs as Haslach to the north-northwest to the southern outskirts of Haslach , where it unites after 6.6 km with the short right-hand upper reaches of Haslach .
Left upper course Haslach
The Haslach itself rises in the name run at 645 m above sea level. NN in a comparatively narrow and short valley southwest of Haslach. It runs about 0.7 km to the southern outskirts. About a hundred meters before the confluence at 630.1 m above sea level. NN shows the map on the outskirts next to this run a proven Haslach origin .
Further course
The Haslach continues in the inflow direction of the last Rappenbach coming from the south-southeast, first through Haslach. Further down, between Rohrmühle and Kreuzmühle, it is fed by the Rötelsbach coming from the southwest, opposite the mouth of which the Totensteige rises to Tannheim on the right slope of the valley. Further down, the brook crosses the main town of Rot an der Rot itself, and immediately afterwards the Haslach flows out about 6.0 km after the Rappenbach brook at about 591 m above sea level. NN from the right into the red .
Flood
The Haslach became known nationwide on August 17, 1969 during the flood disaster in Rot an der Rot. On that day, thunderstorms and downpours, which are rare in the Swabian Oberland, caused the level of an outdated flood retention basin of the Haslach to rise threateningly within a few hours. When the top of the dam was flooded, the 8 m high dam collapsed over a length of 50 m. With helpers from all over Baden-Württemberg, roads, paths and bridges were made passable again. Large amounts of uprooted trees, wood, rubble and rubble had to be cleared.
