The Mertsee (Mertseespeicher) is a reservoir in Eggenfelden on the river Mertsee of the same name in Lower Bavaria , Rottal-Inn district . The reservoir is located in the Rott catchment area .
The storage facility was built in 1961 for flood protection and recreational recreation. It belongs to the Free State of Bavaria . The dam is an earth dam.
The main species of fish in the lake are perch , carp , barbel , nose , aitel , bream , pike , pikeperch and eel .
