The Trieb is a right tributary of the White Elster . It is called Geigenbach in the upper reaches and rises north of Schöneck / Vogtl. 1.5 km from the Muldenquelle , the origin of the Rote Mulde . The Geigenbach flows in a northerly direction and is dammed approx. 7 km below the source to the Werda drinking water dam , also known as the Geigenbachtalsperre . The name Trieb is in use from the village of Bergen . The next place through which Bergen flows was even given the name Trieb after the river. In the further course, the drive is dammed for 5.8 km to the Pöhl dam and takes in the Rabenbach on the left side of the dam . After flowing through the well-known, rocky and steep-walled Triebal, it flows into the White Elster in the immediate vicinity of the Elstertal Bridge .
