The Lautenbach is a left tributary of the Flöha in the Saxon Ore Mountains . With the dams Neunzehnhain I and Neunzehnhain II it is dammed twice and is an essential part of the Middle Ore Mountains dam system with which the greater Chemnitz area is supplied with drinking water.

course

The stream has its source at around 625  m north of Lauta . Here at the one-layer Jüdenhain it gathers in the Fürstenteich and flows through the Heinzewald to the Red Puddle Pond . After another two kilometers, the approximately 1.5 km long Neunzehnhain II dam begins . After another 2 kilometers, the stream is dammed by the smaller and older Neunzehnhain I dam. It joins the Flöha near the Reifland-Wünschendorf stop on the Reitzenhain – Flöha railway line .

  • Gänsebach (left, direct inflow into the Neunzehnhain II dam)

particularities

About 80% of the catchment area is forested and only 18% is used for agriculture. This results in an exceptionally good quality of the drinking water obtained in the dams.
