The Mettmastausee or Mettmatalsperre (Mettmabecken) is a pump storage reservoir in the valley of Mettma at Brenden , community Ühlingen birch village , in the southern Black Forest .

The Mettmastausee is part of the Schluchseewerke AG Laufenburg pump storage network between the Schluchsee and the Rhine .

The reservoir forms in the network, next to the Albstausee in the Albtal , one of the two side arms in connection with the Schwarzabruck reservoir (lower basin for the power plant of the upper level or upper basin for the intermediate level ).

technical features

The barrier structure of the Mettmastau reservoir is a 45 m high gravity dam . The dammed water is used in the intermediate level, in the Witznau power plant , to generate electricity. Its nominal output is 220  MW .
