The Schwarzatalsperre or the Schwarzabruck reservoir ( Schwarzabecken ) is a pumped storage reservoir in the Schwarza valley near houses in the southern Black Forest .
geography
The Schwarzabruck reservoir is located in the Schwarza valley at approx. 723 m above sea level. NN. The barrage or the power plant is, despite its own name, Schwarzabruck , in particular in connection with the village of Häuser (889 m above sea level) on the ridge in the west. The power plant and part of the reservoir are on the territory of the municipality of Häuser. Most of the reservoir, however, lies in the area of the municipality of Schluchsee .
On the ridge in the east lies the village of Staufen , municipality of Grafenhausen , the area of which also extends close to the lake.
A road leads from both mountain ridges to the reservoir or power plant. The road through the Schwarzatal is only partially accessible (forest road or factory road).
function
The Schwarzabruck reservoir is part of the Schluchseewerke AG pumped storage network (based in Laufenburg (Baden) ) between the Schluchsee and the Rhine .
The dam takes over the function of the lower basin with the Schluchsee as the upper basin for the upper stage , the pumped storage power plant Häuser (Schwarzabruck).
At the same time, it is for the intermediate level , the Witznau pumped storage power plant , the upper basin with the Witznau reservoir , community Ühlingen-Birkendorf , as the lower basin.
For the lower stage , the Waldshut power plant , the Witznau reservoir forms the upper basin with the Rhine as the natural lower basin (backwater area of the river power plant Rheinkraftwerk Albbruck-Dogern AG (RADAG)).
The Schwarzabruck reservoir is flanked in its function by two other reservoirs:
- The Mettma reservoir , which lies in the east in the valley of the Mettma .
- The Albstausee , which lies in the west in the Alb valley (south of St. Blasien ).
technical features
The barrier structure of the Schwarzatalsperre is a 43 m high gravity dam . The dammed water is used in the Witznau power plant to generate electricity. Its nominal output is 220 MW .
Dam with the same name
The dam on the Schwarza (Saale) in Thuringia, also known as the Schwarzatalsperre, is the Scheibe-Alsbach dam .
