The Waldshut power plant is a pumped storage power plant of the Schluchseewerke with 150 MW generator and 80 MW pump capacity near Waldshut-Tiengen in the south of Baden-Württemberg . The machine house with the switchgear is located in Waldshut on the Upper Rhine, which also serves as an underwater basin.
The upper basin is the Witznau basin , which is 160 meters higher and to which the power plant is connected via a 9.4 km long tunnel through which up to 140 cubic meters of water flow per second.
