The Scheiben-Alsbach dam in Scheibe-Alsbach near Neuhaus am Rennweg in southern Thuringia was put into operation in 1944. It serves to increase the low water level and, since 1986, also to supply drinking water . The operator is the Thuringian long-distance water supply . The Schwarza is dammed .

The dam is an earth dam made of shale material on the bedrock. A larger proportion of debris was used in the dam structure on the air side than on the water side. The water side is covered with a two meter thick bed of stones, the air side with lawn. At the foot of the dam, the subsoil was sealed with a sealing curtain.

The dam was filled in from May 1938 to November 1941 and the impoundment began in August 1942. Due to the war, initially only up to two thirds of the height was dammed. The overflow, the flood relief , the drinking water extraction and the bottom outlet are on the right side of the valley. The bank area is a drinking water protection zone and may not be entered.

In 1992 the dam was renovated. The storage space was increased by 100,000 cubic meters .
