The Hütten power plant is a pumped storage power plant near Hütten in the southern Black Forest. It is the oldest of the five power plants in the Schluchsee group and was built from 1929 to 1931. It is connected to the Schluchsee as the upper basin by a 6.2-kilometer-long pressure tunnel through which 40 cubic meters of water flow per second in pumping mode and 86 cubic meters in generator mode.

The power plant has four ternary machine sets with standing waves , consisting of a pump, converter, turbine and generator. The maximum generator output is 100 MW, both the turbine and the pump are equipped with Francis impellers.

Above the power plant there is a moated castle over 80 meters high and 10 meters in diameter in the rock . As can be seen in the picture on the right, the valve house is located above the power station, from which the water is led to the machine house via four inclined pressure pipes made of steel pipes, the length of which is 260 meters, before it flows into the Schwarza Basin after the turbine.

The lower basin of the Hütten power plant, the Schwarzabecken , is also the upper basin of the Witznau power plant . Until the final completion of the pressure tunnel and the Witznau power station, the Schwarza Basin also served as a reservoir for the now-abandoned Eichholz power station in the Schwarzatal . The valve chamber is accessed parallel to the pressure pipes with a single-track funicular, make Von Roll , Bern plant. The winch drive is located in the valley station, on the mountain only the deflection, the return ropes are carried over supports.

Up to 50 cubic meters per second can be conveyed from the somewhat higher Alb basin into the Schwarza basin via a tunnel .

Outgoing lines at Brenden

The electrical power generated is carried away via two 110 kV lines that lead from the power station's anchoring portal across the Schwarza basin. The first pole is located on the opposite bank at 47 ° 45 '14 "  N , 8 ° 11' 31"  O .
