description

Weir

The Pleiße normally flows through the flood retention basin and is only dammed during floods. At the Pleiße there is a distribution structure with which the inflow is regulated. The water can then also be forwarded to the Borna storage basin, which is only separated from the Regis-Serbitz basin by a dam. Both pools are operated together.

The dam is an earth dam made of cohesive earth with a clay seal. A road leads over it. With its length of almost 7 km, the dam is one of the longest on earth (even if only including secondary dams; the main structure is only 2245 m long).
