course

Side valley of the Saidenbach dam, filled by the Haselbach

The stream rises in the Tännicht forest area , which extends between Dörnthal and Dittmannsdorf . The direction of flow is mainly from east to west, i.e. parallel to the longitudinal extent of the Ore Mountains and flowing over the Saidenbach to the Flöha .

After just 2.5 km it is dammed up by the Dörnthal pond . This Kunstteich was applied 1787-1790 to above the upper water supply of the art trench - and crispness nsystems the Revierwasserlaufanstalt Freiberg the mountain area in fire with supplement water supply. Even today it still supplies service water for the Freiberg industry. The water supply to Haselbach and RWA is regulated by Schütze .

The brook finally flows through the western end of Dörnthal and the forest hoof village Haselbach , which is laid out along the brook. To the northeast of Forchheim , it is dammed over a length of about 900 m by the Forchheim pre-dam. This serves to pre-purify the water for the Saidenbach drinking water dam. After the brook has passed two second, smaller pre- dams , it meets the Saidentach dam, which was built between 1929 and 1933 and which is integrated into Chemnitz's water supply via the Middle Ore Mountains dam system. Here the stream, also known as Forchheimer Wasser in the lower section of the 18th century, fills a more than 1.5 km long side valley.
