The Hopfgarten reservoir ( Hopfgarten reservoir) in the Weimarer Land district near Erfurt is an agricultural reservoir and is used to irrigate intensively operated agriculture . It is also of great importance for nature conservation . Fish farming is also carried out here.

The grams is pent up . In addition to irrigation , the reservoir also regulates the water level in the Gramme.

The barrier structure is a 368 m long and 15 m high earth dam . The dam belongs to the Thuringian long-distance water supply. The Vieselbach dam is nearby .

In 2018 the dam was emptied due to increased seepage water runoff.
