The Brohm dam is a dam in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in the Mecklenburg Lake District near the central town of Neubrandenburg . The reservoir dammed up by it is called Brohmer reservoir .
Location and name interpretation
Brohm reservoir and Brohmer reservoir are located around 24 kilometers northeast of Neubrandenburg on the northwestern edge of the Brohm mountains . The town of Brohm , which has belonged to Friedland since June 13, 2004 , is located on both sides of the reservoir banks. The name Brohm means “gate” in Slavic , the gateway to the Brohm Mountains .

Construction time and history
The Brohm dam was built from June 4, 1969 to June 30, 1972 on behalf of the Coast-Warnow-Peene water management department in Stralsund and put into operation on July 1, 1972. From 1999 to 2002 it was reconstructed and modernized. The Brohmer reservoir was originally created for the irrigation of fields. This use ceased in 1991. Every year in June, Brohm celebrates the traditional “Staufest”. In 1997 the pre-dam was dismantled and a fish ladder ("Brohmer water terraces") was built.
