The Kleine Dhron is an orographically left tributary of the Dhron in the Hunsrück in the districts of Bernkastel-Wittlich and Trier-Saarburg in Rhineland-Palatinate, almost 30 km long, together with its longer left upper course . It is a second order body of water from the mouth in the paper mill to the tributary of the Thalfanger Bach in Dhronecken .
geography
Headwaters
The Kleine Dhron arises in Dhronecken from the confluence of the 7.2 km longer and with 23.2 km² also catchment area richer left upper course Röderbach from the so-called Singing Valley with the right upper course Thalfangerbach, which is somewhat smaller in both sizes . The Röderbach as well as the most important source brook Klingelbach of the Thalfangerbach both arise in the Idarwald , the Röderbach at about 608 m above sea level. NHN on the southern flank of the Bromerkopf ( 661.9 m above sea level ), the Klingelbach at only about 525 m above sea level. NHN north of the Schlaukopf ( 626.7 m above sea level ).
course
The Kleine Dhron, which was created in Dhronecken, initially flows westwards in continuation of the last Röderbach direction and then gradually turns a long 135 ° bend to the right, rich in loops. It is dammed between Büdlicherbrück and Dhrönchen (between the confluences of Bleschbach and Speinbach) to the Dhrontalsperre . The last kilometers the Kleine Dhron flows mainly to the northeast. At the hamlet of paper mill it flows at 151 m above sea level. NHN on the left into the Dhron , for which it is by far the largest tributary.
After its 29.5 km long path together with the Röderbach, the river flows about 457 meters below its upper course source, which corresponds to a mean bed gradient of over 15 ‰.

Water condition
In sections, the Kleine Dhron is one of the coarse material-rich, silicate low mountain streams (type 5). It is partly classified as a silicate, fine to coarse material rich low mountain range (type 9). The water structure quality is mainly given as moderately to strongly changed. Short sections, especially in the upper reaches, are also indicated as low. Sections that have been very much to completely changed can be found primarily in the local areas and at the Dhrontalsperre . From its source to the mouth of the Thalfangerbach, the water quality in 2005 is given as unpolluted. In the further course up to the confluence with the Dhron, the Kleine Dhron is considered to be lightly polluted.
