The Dhron is a 36 km long orographically right tributary of the Moselle . The largest inflow is the Kleine Dhron km with a length of almost 29 below Büdlicherbrück the Dhrontalsperre feeds. It is a second order body of water from its mouth in Neumagen-Dhron to the tributary of the Brühlbach (Wahlholzbach) near Hunolstein .
geography
The Dhron rises in the Idarwald , although its source is not indicated in the topographic map 1: 25,000. According to the Rhineland-Palatinate water management authority, the source river is the Wetzelbach, which is 543 m above sea level. NHN rises northeast of Hinzerath. From there the brook flows in a south-westerly direction through Hinzerath . In its further course it takes on numerous smaller, short streams flowing down from the heights of the Idarwald. After passing Hundheim , the river is called the Dhron, flows on the northern edge of Bischofsdhron and a little later past that of Morbach .
Behind Rapperath the valley narrows increasingly. The Dhron meanders further west. The villages of Gräfendhron and Papiermühle are still on the river itself , before it leaves the Moselle Mountains at Dhron and flows into the Moselle on the right.
On its 36 km long path, the Dhron overcomes a height difference of 434 m, which corresponds to an average bed gradient of 12.1 ‰. It drains an area of 319 km².
