The Idarwald ( Celt .: "Id ar" - forest height above the country) is up to 766.2 m above sea level. NN high part of the Hunsrück in Rhineland-Palatinate , Germany .
geography
The Idarwald is located in the districts of Bernkastel-Wittlich and Birkenfeld in the northeast of the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park . It is roughly in the triangle of Morbach (in the north-west), Rhaunen (north-east) and Idar-Oberstein (south-east), but - apart from Morbach - does not come as far as these places. The subsoil is mainly made up of Lower Devonian quartzites .
