The Keddinghausen flood retention basin is a flood retention basin of the Obere Lippe water association near Büren in the Paderborn district , North Rhine-Westphalia .

The Afte is dammed here since 1976 in part permanent storage of a dam of crushed rock and verlehmtem Talschotter with a clay core Apron seal.

The retention basin was built after the severe Heinrich flood in the summer of 1965. At the end of the 1990s, the basin was drained and dredged because the bulk material carried by the Afte threatened to silt up the lake. A diversion of the river around the lake is currently being considered.

The basin, also called Keddinghauser See by the population, is a popular local recreation area. A hiking trail leads around the lake, and there is a barbecue area not far from the flood relief structure. The lake is also very popular as a fishing spot .
