course

The source of the Wendebach stream lies south of the Vogelsang settlement near Bremke, right on the border with Thuringia . From here it first flows a short distance in a southerly direction, then to the northwest and right through the town of Bremke. There, on the left-hand side, an unnamed stream coming from Ischenrode from the south flows into the Wendebach. It flows through the small-scale red sandstone rock area of the Reinhausen Forest in a west-north-west direction, absorbing water from ditches and an unnamed stream. Country road 568 runs along the Wendebach in Bremkertal, in 2013 a cycle path was built partly along the road, but mostly on the other side of the Wendebach. At the eastern entrance to Reinhausen , the Reinbach coming from the left flows into the Wendebach. Here the Wendebach emerges from the wooded area. In the village of Reinhausen, the valley is dominated by the rocks of the Bielstein and the Kirchberg with the monastery church standing on them . Behind Reinhausen, the valley widens again a little, the rocks recede and the stream flows through a hilly meadow and pasture landscape with smaller wooded areas and trees into the Wendebach reservoir . There is also a cycle path in the valley of the Wendebach on the stretch between Reinhausen and the Wendebach reservoir.

At an altitude of 162  m above sea level. NHN the Wendebach flows into the Leine from the right . The mouth of the Dramme is only about 400 meters downstream .

On its 16 km long way from the source to the mouth, the Wendebach overcomes a height difference of 177 m.

Reservoir

The Wendebach feeds the reservoir named after it . The lake, originally created for flood protection, also served, and since 2016, exclusively as a bathing lake and as a local recreation area for the population of the surrounding villages and Göttingen .
