The Ohmbach is an approximately 16.6 km long left tributary of the Glans in the West Palatinate ( Rhineland-Palatinate , Germany ).
geography
course
The Ohmbach rises in the southwestern foothills of the North Palatinate Uplands about 1.5 km northwest of Langenbach at an altitude of about 403 m . From here the stream flows primarily to the southeast, while the direction of the flow changes between northeast and south.
On his way to the southeast he passes the communities of Langenbach, Herschweiler-Pettersheim , Ohmbach and Brücken . It reaches the moorland of the Landstuhler Bruch and then feeds the 1500 m long and 250 m wide Ohmbachsee between Schönenberg-Kübelberg and Gries . After exiting at the eastern end of the lake, the Ohmbach bends to the northeast and flows into the Glan on the left after about 1.5 km east of Gries at an altitude of 224 m .
On its 16.6 km long path, the stream overcomes a height difference of 179 m, which corresponds to a mean bed gradient of 10.8 ‰. The Ohmbach drains a catchment area of 37.868 km² via Glan, Nahe and Rhine to the North Sea .
Tributaries
Numerous short tributaries flow to the Ohmbach. The most important of them is the 3.6 km long Krottelbach , whose catchment area has a size of 4.723 km².
In the following, the tributaries of the Ohmbach are named in the order from the source to the mouth, which are managed by the Rhineland-Palatinate water management authority. In each case, the orographic position of the mouth, the length, the size of the catchment area, the altitude of the mouth and the river code are given.

environment
The Ohmbach is one of the fine material rich, carbonate low mountain range brooks. Its water structure is mostly strongly or completely changed. The water quality is given in the upper reaches to Herschweiler as low, in the middle to the Ohmbach reservoir as moderate and in the lower reaches as critically polluted (as of 2005).
