Langenbach in der Pfalz is a municipality in the district of Kusel in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the community of Upper Glantal .

geography

The elongated street village is located in the upper Ohmbachtal in the West Palatinate near the border with Saarland .

history

The name of the place Langenbach bei Konken appears for the first time in tax lists, for example the cellar bill of the Lichtenberg office in 1445/46, also in the levers of the Lichtenberg office from 1480. Langenbach (formerly also Konken-Langenbach , Ober- and Niederlangenbach ) and Berglangenbach (formerly also Langenbach ) can hardly be separated in historical sources.

Municipal council

The council in Langenbach consists of eight council members, who in the local elections on May 26, 2019 in a majority vote were elected, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Wolfgang Schneider became the local mayor of Langenbach on October 9, 2019. In the re-election on September 8, 2019, he was elected for five years with almost 91% of the vote. This vote had become necessary because in the direct election on May 26, 2019, the only applicant at the time did not achieve a sufficient majority.

As Schneider's predecessor, Gerd Rudolph had held the office for 15 years, but did not take office again in 2019.

Economy and Infrastructure

Langenbach has a special landing field , which is mainly operated and used by the Kusel aviation club. The grass runway is oriented 10/28. The Kusel / Langenbach airfield can be reached by radio with the radio identification “Kusel Segelflug” on the frequency 123.35 MHz. The traffic pattern is to be flown north or south.

The best known local company is the Ulrich schnapps distillery. It produces industrial brandies based on grain as well as fruit schnapps from local fruits.

The A 62 runs in the northeast . In Glan-Münchweiler there is a train station of the Glantalbahn .
