Hoppstädten is a municipality in the Kusel district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Lauterecken-Wolfstein association.

Hoppstädten is located in the western Palatinate in the northernmost tip of the district. Around 40 percent of the municipal area is forested. In the west is Sien ( district Birkenfeld ), in the east Schweinschied ( district Bad Kreuznach ) and in the south Merzweiler .

history

Hobstetten was first mentioned in a document in 1325. From 1815 to 1866 it belonged to the Oberamt Meisenheim of the Landgraviate of Hesse-Homburg and with this in 1866 came to Prussia .

To distinguish between places of the same name, the name form Sien-Hoppstädten was used at times .

Municipal council

The council in Hoppstädten consists of six council members, who in the local elections on May 26, 2019 in a majority vote were elected, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Günter Denzer became mayor of Hoppstädten in 2004. Since there was no candidate for the direct election on May 26, 2019, the upcoming election of the mayor was carried out by the council in accordance with the municipal regulations. He unanimously confirmed Günter Denzer in his office on August 8, 2019.

Economy and Infrastructure

Federal highway 270 runs to the west . In Lauterecken there is a station of the Lautertalbahn .
