Ginsweiler is a municipality in the Kusel district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Lauterecken-Wolfstein association.

Geographical location
Ginsweiler is located in the North Palatinate Uplands in the Odenbachtal , which can be found between Lautertal and Alsenztal . The Naumburgerhof and Ölmühle residential areas also belong to Ginsweiler .
The region is also called the "Old World" by many.
Neighboring communities
The neighboring communities are Adenbach , Becherbach , Reipoltskirchen and Cronenberg in the north, starting clockwise .
history
Ginsweiler was first mentioned in a document in 1379. It initially belonged to the county of Veldenz , then to Pfalz-Zweibrücken .
To the northeast of the Naumburger Hof near Ginsberg was the medieval Naumburg .

Municipal council
The municipal council in Ginsweiler consists of eight council members who were elected by a majority vote in the local elections on May 26, 2019 , and the honorary local mayor as chairman.

Roland Bender became local mayor of Ginsweiler in summer 2019. In the direct election on May 26, 2019, he was elected for five years with 59.87% of the vote. His predecessor Wolfgang Neu had held the office for 11 years.

Ginsweiler is part of the Rhein-Neckar transport association . The next train station is Lauterecken-Grumbach on the Lautertalbahn to Kaiserslautern ; Some busses on the 268 run there on weekdays. In addition, on weekdays there are direct connections from Ginsweiler to Kaiserslautern Hbf with the 131 bus .
