Matzenbach is a municipality in the Kusel district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the community of Upper Glantal .
geography
The place is on the Glan in the West Palatinate . The Potzberg rises to the northeast . Matzenbach is divided into the districts of Matzenbach, Eisenbach and Gimsbach . Other places to live are: Auhof, Hollerhof, Langenbacherhof, Straubengrunderhof, Schreckmühle and Wellesbacherhof.
history
On June 7, 1969, the community Eisenbach-Matzenbach was formed from the communities Eisenbach and Matzenbach. Today's local community Matzenbach was created on March 20, 1971 through a new formation from this community and the community of Gimsbach.

Municipal council
The municipal council in Matzenbach consists of twelve council members, who were elected by a majority vote in the local elections on May 26, 2019 , and the honorary local mayor as chairman.

The office of the local mayor is vacant. After no candidate for the successor to the previous mayor Werner Jung had started in the direct election on May 26, 2019, the municipal council has not yet been able to appoint a new one.
Culture and sights
There is a solar-heated outdoor pool in the Gimsbach district. The Gimsbach Reformed Church from 1747, the Matzenbach schoolhouse with its bell tower from the 19th century and the step-shaped washing area on the banks of the Glan are listed as historical monuments.
