Welchweiler is a municipality in the Kusel district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the community of Kusel-Altenglan .

geography

The place is at the foot of the 536 meter high Herrmannsberg in the West Palatinate . To the east is Elzweiler , southwest Altenglan and north is St. Julian .

history

Welchweiler was first mentioned in a document as Weldichwilre in 1320 . It initially belonged to the county of Veldenz , from 1595 to Pfalz-Zweibrücken .

The municipal council in Welchweiler consists of six council members, who were elected by a majority vote in the local elections on May 26, 2019 , and the honorary local mayor as chairman.
