Horschbach is a municipality in the Kusel district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the community of Kusel-Altenglan .
geography
The place is on Herrmannsberg in the western Palatinate . The Horschbach stream of the same name flows through the village. To the north is Glanbrücken , east Hinzweiler and southwest is Elzweiler .
history
Horschbach was first mentioned in a document as Horgesbach in 1336 , but it was probably built in the 8th century.
In the 14th century the place was in the so-called Hundheim guardianship, which was pledged to the Rheingrafen . Around 1595 the place came to Pfalz-Zweibrücken .
From 1801 to 1814 Horschbach belonged to France as part of the Donnersberg department , Kaiserslautern arrondissement , Wolfstein canton and became the seat of a Mairie . At the Congress of Vienna , the Palatinate on the left bank of the Rhine fell to Austria in 1815 and to the Kingdom of Bavaria in 1816 on the basis of an exchange contract . The place was now assigned to the Kusel Land Commissioner in the Bavarian Rhine District and the seat of a mayor's office, which also included Elzweiler, Welchweiler and, until 1838, Bedesbach . Until 1853, the two villages Horschbach and Elzweiler were regarded as one.
After the Second World War , Horschbach became part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate within the French occupation zone . In the course of the first Rhineland-Palatinate administrative reform , the place was assigned to the Verbandsgemeinde Altenglan in 1972 , which was merged into the Verbandsgemeinde Kusel-Altenglan in 2018 .
