history

Until the end of the 18th century the place belonged to the Duchy of Pfalz-Zweibrücken . Within the Oberamt Lichtenberg it was the eponymous main town of a mayor's shop , to which 19 localities belonged. After the Left Bank of the Rhine was taken by French revolutionary troops (1794), Pfeffelbach belonged to the Saar Department from 1798 to 1814 and was incorporated into the canton of Baumholder during this time . In 1816 Pfeffelbach came to the Principality of Lichtenberg , a newly created exclave of the Duchy of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld and from 1826 of the Duchy of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha . During this time it was subordinate to the mayor's office in Burglichtenberg . With said duchy, the community fell to Prussia in 1834 , which created the St. Wendel district from this area . After the separation of the main part to the newly created Saar area , the remaining district of Sankt Wendel-Baumholder was created in 1920 , to which the place belonged until 1937, when it was incorporated into the Birkenfeld district.

After the Second World War , Thallichtenberg became part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate within the French occupation zone . In the course of the first administrative reform in Rhineland-Palatinate , the community was reclassified to the Kusel district on June 7, 1969 . Three years later, the place became part of the newly created Kusel Association , and Pfeffelbach has been part of the Kusel-Altenglan Association since 2018 .
