The Pfeffelbach , in the lower reaches also Aalbach , is the 11.1 km long, left source river of the Kuselbach in Rhineland-Palatinate , Germany .

The Pfeffelbach rises west of Reichweiler at an altitude of 473  m above sea level. NHN . First flowing to the south, the stream turns after a short run to the east, crossing the state border from Saarland to Rhineland-Palatinate and following its course for a short time. Then it flows through the village of Pfeffelbach , after which its course is directed to the northeast. On the southern outskirts of Thallichtenberg it takes up the Bisterbach (2.85 km; 6.139 km² catchment area) and turns again to the southeast; henceforth it is also referred to as Aalbach. After it has passed Ruthweiler , the Pfeffelbach joins in Diedelkopf at 240  m above sea level. NHN with the Bledesbach to the Kuselbach .

On its 11.1 km long path, the Pfeffelbach overcomes a height difference of 233 m, which corresponds to an average bed gradient of 21.2 ‰. It drains an approximately 27.8 km² catchment area via Kuselbach, Glan , Nahe and Rhine to the North Sea .

Water names and assignments

The lowest, 3.2 km long stretch of the river, from the mouth of Bisterbachs ( 285  m above mean sea level. - on the southern outskirts of Thallichtenberg to its confluence with Diedelkopf contributes in other sources also own name) Aalbach . This is the name of the sports grounds of the former SG Blaubach-Diedelkopf Aalbach stadium , located directly on the stream . According to the official waters order , however, the entire lower section of the Pfeffelbach including the Aalbach of 5.6 km in length is already assigned to the Kuselbach. The Kuselbach arises therefore from its own source ( 395  m above mean sea level. - ) 1.6 km south of the village Pfeffelbach while the Pfeffelbach even after 5.3 kilometers on the eastern outskirts of 305  m above sea level. Water condition

The Pfeffelbach is one of the fine-material, carbonate low mountain streams (type 6). Its water structure quality is indicated above Pfeffelbach with the exception of a few sections as strongly to completely changed. Below Pfeffelbach, the water structure is classified much better, with slight to strongly changed. The water quality is critically polluted up to Pfeffelbach, below it up to Ruthweiler with moderately polluted and in the lower reaches the water quality is given as low polluted.
