The Oberamt Lichtenberg was an administrative area of the Principality of Bayreuth , which was ruled by a branch line of the Hohenzollern until 1791/92 . The Oberamt Lichtenberg was established in 1631 and existed until 1777. In the following year it was incorporated into the Landeshauptmannschaft Hof .

structure

The Oberamt Lichtenberg consisted of two sub-offices, both of which were not geographically linked. On the one hand, this was the Lichtenberg office , which belonged to the core area of the Brandenburg-Bayreuth Oberland and formed its north-western part. The second part of the office was the office of Lauenstein , which was an exclave of the principality located northwest of the Oberland. In view of these geographical conditions, the Oberamt represented a kind of miniature version of the Principality of Bayreuth, which, with the Upper Franconian Oberland and the Middle Franconian Unterland itself, consisted of two separate areas.
