The Oberland of the Principality of Bayreuth with the District Administration of Bayreuth in the southwest

The Amtshauptmannschaft Bayreuth was an administrative area of the Principality of Bayreuth , which was ruled by a branch line of the Hohenzollern . The Amtshauptmannschaft Bayreuth was created during the first half of the 16th century from the "Bayreuth Military District" established in 1498. From 1791/92 the Principality of Bayreuth was under Prussian administration. In 1797 the Bayreuth District was created, which took the place of the District Authority of Bayreuth and the Upper Office of Creußen , but not completely, as a smaller part was assigned to the Kulmbacher District .
