Middle Ages and Early Modern Times

Speichersdorf was first issued on May 15, 1195 in documents in a protective letter of Pope Celestine III. named for the Weißenohe monastery .

The history of the place was initially connected with the Bamberg monastery and later with the von Leuchtenberg family. On April 10, 1281, Landgrave Friedrich II of Leuchtenberg pledged Kulm Castle to Burgrave Friedrich III. from Nuremberg from the house of Hohenzollern . The community area belonged almost entirely to the Neustadt am Kulm office of the Hohenzollern margraviate of Brandenburg-Bayreuth , which Prussia acquired in 1792 . The Lords of Lindenfels , as court lords, held the jurisdiction of lower jurisdiction . In the course of the Prussian-Bavarian mainland comparison in 1802/03, Speichersdorf fell to Bavaria.

19th to 21st century

Thereafter, the eastern part of today's municipality of Speichersdorf, consisting of the former municipalities of Speichersdorf, Plössen, Haidenaab, Guttenthau, Göppmannsbühl, Ramlesreuth and Wirbenz, belonged to Upper Palatinate , while the western part, consisting of the former municipalities of Kirchenlaibach, Windischenlaibach and Nairitz, belonged to Upper Franconia belonged to. In the course of the municipal area reform in the years 1972 to 1978, these formerly independent municipalities merged to form today's large municipality of Speichersdorf and in part changed the district and the administrative district.

Since then, but especially since the start of the building boom in the 1990s, the population of the municipality of Speichersdorf has grown steadily and is now the fourth largest municipality in the Bayreuth district.

The upswing of the railway village Speichersdorf began in 1862 with the construction of the Kirchenlaibach train station on the Weiden – Bayreuth railway of the Bavarian Eastern Railway . With the construction of the Fichtelgebirgsbahn from Schnabelwaid to Oberkotzau in 1878 a crossing station for two main lines was created . For a century, the railway was a decisive factor in the life of the Speichersdorf community. Due to the drastic rationalization measures taken by Deutsche Bahn, the station has lost much of its former importance.

1935–1937 a military airfield was built in the southeast, which was a training airport until the end of the Second World War .

In 1949, the company Richter Messwerkzeuge from Eger established its headquarters in Speichersdorf, and in 1960 a branch of Rosenthal GmbH (porcelain manufacturer) started operations. Since the owner Philip Rosenthal also wanted a flight connection, the plant was built on the site of the old military airport and this was brought back to life. In 1990 the company's central warehouse was opened in the old aircraft hangar. Today there is a flight school there, among other things.

In 1954 the construction of the elementary school began, which from 1956 was run as a community school . After several extensions, it is now a primary and secondary school.

Despite the industrialization, the community today is mainly residential, work is mainly done outside of the home.

Incorporations

In 1946 the previously independent municipality of Zeulenreuth was incorporated. On January 1, 1972, Guttenthau, Haidenaab (with the municipality of Göppmannsbühl am Berg, which was incorporated in 1946), Plössen, Ramlesreuth and Wirbenz came. On July 1, 1972, Kirchenlaibach and Windischenlaibach followed (with the municipality of Nairitz incorporated on April 1, 1971) and Roslas from the dissolved municipality of Mockersdorf . On May 1, 1978, Brüderes , Buschmühle and Weißenreuth from the neighboring community of Seybothenreuth and Frankenberg from the community of Prebitz were added.

coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved by the government of Upper Franconia on June 2, 1972.

Blazon : "In silver with a border decorated with red and silver, a black sloping bar covered with three six-pointed golden stars."

The coat of arms symbols originating from the local history embody, on the one hand, through the red and silver border, the former affiliation to the margraviate of Brandenburg-Bayreuth, and, on the other hand, through the sloping beam of one of the local noble families, who had historical significance as owners of court marks and manors. It is the heraldic reference to the Lords of Lindenfels at Guttenthau Castle, which is located in what is now the municipality.

The flag is striped black and white with an applied coat of arms.

AustriaAustriaA partnership with the Kreuttal municipality in Lower Austria has existed since August 1st, 1997 . It was preceded by a long friendship between the reservist comrades from Unterolberndorf , Kreuttal municipality, and Speichersdorf.

public safety

Fire brigades

In the municipality of Speichersdorf there are eleven volunteer fire brigades , namely in Speichersdorf (base fire brigade ), Kirchenlaibach, Wirbenz, Frankenberg, Guttenthau / Roslas, Haidenaab / Göppmannsbühl, Nairitz / Kodlitz, Plössen, Ramlesreuth, Windischenlaibach and Zeulenreuth. They provide fire protection and general help.

As a base fire brigade, the Speicherersdorf Fire Department has equipment for technical assistance, respiratory protection, chemical and radiation protection as well as several water-carrying fire engines.

The FF Kirchenlaibach supports the FF Speicherersdorf with their equipment in technical assistance and respiratory protection during larger operations. The remaining fire brigades in the municipality each have a portable pump trailer (exception FF Wirbenz and FF Windischenlaibach: each have a portable fire pump vehicle ) and are not able to carry out operations independently. For this reason, whenever a mission in the community is used, the Speicherersdorf Fire Department or the Kirchenlaibach Fire Department are generally alerted via radio by the Bayreuth Integrated Control Center, as is the case in the entire Bayreuth district .

police

The municipality of Speichersdorf belongs to the operational area of the Police Inspection (PI) Bayreuth-Land. Due to the relatively large distance from this office (approx. 20 km), the PI Kemnath, Tirschenreuth district, is also important in the area of police security, especially in time-critical operations.

Ambulance service

The area of the municipality of Speichersdorf belongs to the control center area of the integrated control center Bayreuth, which is responsible for receiving emergency calls and alerting the rescue equipment. Due to the greater distance to Bayreuth, the emergency doctor and the ambulance from Kemnath, about eight kilometers away in Speichersdorf, are usually used. If the emergency doctor in Kemnath is not available, the rescue helicopter Christoph 20 is often ordered from Bayreuth to Speichersdorf.
