Plössen is a district of the municipality of Speichersdorf in the Upper Franconian district of Bayreuth .

The place is about 2 km southeast of the core town Speichersdorf on the state road 2184 and on the Mühlbach, a source brook of the Haidenaab . The Herrenweihergraben flows to the north and flows into the Mühlbach in the east. In the 20th century, the Bgm.-Kohl-Siedlung joined the historic old town to the north and a smaller mixed area in the south. To the northwest of Plössen, already in Speicherersdorf, is the Speichersdorf airfield , also known as Rosenthal Airfield-Plössen .
history
Before the municipal reform in the 1970s, Plössen was an independent municipality with the districts of Forsthaus , Holzmühle , Kodlitz , Plössen and Selbitz . On January 1, 1972, it was incorporated into Speicherersdorf.

In the list of architectural monuments in Speicherersdorf five architectural monuments are listed for Plössen :
- The chapel (Plössen 2) is a neo-Gothic hipped roof building with sandstone structure . It carries a gable rider , inscribed "1864".
- The stable house (Plössen 1), a two-storey sandstone square building with a hipped roof, corner pilaster , cornice , window walls and window aprons, is labeled "1802".
- The stable house (Plössen 5; Plössen 9), a two-storey hipped roof building with corner pilaster strips and cornice , is labeled "1862". The adjoining building, a single-storey saddle roof building made of sandstone blocks with a knee-length floor , is labeled "1794".
- The stable house (Plössen 10) is a two-story hipped roof building with a sill and console cornice . It was built in the middle of the 19th century.
- The cast iron crucifix (at St 2184; at the quarry) , labeled "1933", stands on a granite base .
