History of the mill

Around 1900 a mill with a reservoir on the Tauritzbach was built on the edge of the municipality of Speichersdorf , which was owned by the Reiss family. After 1945 the Tauritzmühle was sold several times, including to the Cologne architect Dreikausen. The uninhabited mill burned down to the ground in 1970 and was rebuilt by the memory village group of the Fichtelgebirgsverein in the late 1970s. As the successor to the former corrugated iron barracks Alte Liebe , today's Tauritzmühle was built with a rock cellar , adjoining house, beer garden and guest house. The Tauritzmühle has been permanently leased since 2004. In the vicinity, belonging to the Tauritzmühle, visitor walkways to the accessible beaver castle and the source of the Tauritzmühle were built. A water adventure park for children was created on the Tauritzbach. Kneipp stones and a water wheel were created in the stream. The stream can be diverted by artificial damming.

In 2015 the nature trail and the beaver footbridges were reopened after the redesign. Among other things, the 32-year-old signs were renewed and given a QR code .
