history
In 1878 the Fichtelgebirge section of the German and Austrian Alpine Club was founded in Wunsiedel , which from the beginning only dealt with the development of the Fichtelgebirge. In 1888 the Alpine Club section was dissolved and the FGV was founded with its headquarters in Wunsiedel. For a long time, the management was taken over by the respective forest master from Wunsiedel. Over the course of time, local groups emerged in the surrounding towns, and at the turn of the 20th century the number of members rose to 1,000. The association took off after the First World War , in 1924 it comprised 38 local groups with 7,000 members. During this time Lorenz Reinhard Spitzenpfeil designed the first club logo. The logos of the Colloquium Historicum Wirsbergense and the Franconian Forest Association also come from him. After the Second World War , which largely brought the association's activities to a standstill, a rapid rebuilding took place, with strong and diverse youth groups being founded. In 1936 the seat of the association was relocated to Hof , and it was relocated to Wunsiedel in 2003/04.
